A strut as an internal diameter 150mm. what should be the minimum external diameter so that it may carry a load of 1500KN with a factor of safety 4, ultimate stress of steel is 450 N/mm2.

A square steel bar of hollow cross-section subjected to a tensile load of 60KN with an internal dimension 25X25mm. determine thickness of the bar if the ultimate stress in the bar should not exceed 400N/mm2 with a factor of safety 4.
